SHOCKWAVE THERAPY FOR ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

Every man has different goals when it comes to optimizing erectile function. While various types of medications and surgeries have been performed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, many men are interested in regenerative options. At Prime Institute Miami we offer focused shockwave therapy for erectile dysfunction (ED). Shockwave therapy in Miami, Florida is a safe and effective way to improve erectile function in properly selected men.

What is ShockWave Therapy for ED?

DR. Amy PEARLMAN EXPLAIns

Focused Shockwave Therapy (also known as Low-Intensity Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy) is a non-invasive procedure that uses a small wand-like device to deliver targeted  low-intensity sound waves that stimulate penile tissue, encourage blood flow, and restore natural erectile function in men with mild to moderate Erectile Dysfunction (ED).

HOW IS the PROCEDURE PERFORMED?

Focused shockwave involves a series of treatments. Each treatment takes about 30 minutes to perform.  The procedure is painless and does not require anesthesia, making it a safe and effective alternative to other ED treatments.

Men undergoing this non-invasive therapy may decide to undergo repeat treatments at a later time.  During the treatment, a small wand-like device uses targeted sound waves to stimulate penile tissue and encourage blood flow, which can also speed up the healing process. Low-intensity shockwaves have also been shown to grow new blood vessels and improve blood flow in the penis, which is essential for erections.

Am i a good candidate for shockwave therapy?

Men with histories suggestive of vasculogenic erectile dysfunction (i.e., dysfunction related to blood vessel disease) may benefit from focused shock wave therapy.

Good candidates for shockwave therapy treatments typically include men who:

  • Have not had success with other ED treatments such as oral medications
  • Prefer a non-invasive, non-surgical approach to treating ED
  • Are in overall good health and do not have any medical conditions that could interfere with this treatment
  • Are willing to commit to multiple treatment sessions, typically over the course of several weeks
  • Are willing to make lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, and maintaining a healthy weight to optimize the effectiveness of the treatment

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER PROCEDURE?

After a Focused Shockwave Therapy procedure for Erectile Dysfunction (ED), patients can expect to resume normal activities immediately. The procedure is typically painless and does not require any anesthesia or downtime. However, some men may experience mild discomfort or tingling sensations during the procedure.
